10 key steps for Cambridge exams officers in the USA

Exams officers play an essential role in administering Cambridge programs at their school. Below we outline 10 key steps every US exams officer should take.

  1. Favorite: Bookmark the Cambridge Exams Officers' Guide on our website. Periodic updates will be posted here. The search box and help section on our website can also be helpful.
  2. Review: Download, read, and annotate the most recent Cambridge Handbook the handbook should match the year you will hold an exam series (available in the Cambridge Exams Officers' Guide.)
  3. Register: Sign up for FREE webinars using the exams officer webinar calendar (Note: You receive access to the Online Learning Portal with webinar recordings).
  4. Join: Sign up for your local Cambridge professional group and/or the Cambridge Coordinators Google Group. You may email Jeffery Brewer ([email protected]) or Jeremy Ridgeo ([email protected]) for assistance.
  5. Meet the team: Get to know your Cambridge North America Team. Your School Implementation Manager is available to help, and you may copy them on emails to [email protected]
  6. Prep your files: At the start of the school year, review the current Access Arrangements (accommodations) instructions and begin preparing your internal records and files.
  7. Login: Sign in to and tour Direct (formerly CIE Direct) and become familiar with the entries process with the Cambridge Guide to Making Entries.
  8. Save the dates (and times): Find out your Key Time for Cambridge exams, review available regional timetables for pending exam series (provisional or final), and make all stakeholders aware of exam dates.
  9. Learn how-to: Review the Cambridge Samples Database and Cambridge Submit for Assessment. Note submission dates for the November or June examination series.
  10. Plan your year: Use the Cambridge Key Dates and Activities documents to help plan and schedule your year with Cambridge.

Office hours with Cambridge

Before and during the November and June exam series, your US Cambridge School Implementation Managers hold regular, virtual meetings open to all exams officers, where you can drop in to ask questions. Contact Jeffery Brewer ([email protected]) or Jeremy Ridgeo ([email protected]) to find out the schedule and how to join.

November series deadlines

If your school makes entries for exams in the November series (which are administered in October and November), please be aware that deadlines for entries, Access Arrangements, Coursework and Moderation, and Special Consideration may occur before or at the start of the school year in August or September.
